Grackle noseband
The Grackle noseband has been widely used for many years in showjumping, eventing, racing and more recently for dressage. Most people use it for a horse that “crosses it’s jaw”, but the Grackle noseband can be beneficial in many other ways:
• The rings create a pivot-point, so the straps aren’t “fixed”. This creates more flexibility in the straps, which helps the horse to breath and swallow and leads to a more comfortable fit.
• When the noseband is done up correctly it results in reduced noseband pressure compared to other nosebands.
• The double jaw straps enhances jaw stability and can lead to more stable contact.
• It can help to keep the horses mouth closed or stop them leaning on the bit.
• It’s great at reducing airway obstruction and for this reason is the preferred noseband of many eventers.
• Can be used for BD, BE and BSJA
What makes a KellyJ Leather Grackle noseband different?
I have designed a Grackle noseband with a modern twist on the traditional grackle:
• Two padded back jaw straps to aid jaw stability and make it more comfortable for the horse.
• Symmetrical buckles on both sides of the straps ensures even pressure when done up, this prevents a pulling effect.
• The straps from the ring to the pad can be plain, padded or rolled.
• The nose pad can be either sheepskin in a variety of colours and lengths, or padded to match the rest of the bridle.
• Every bridle is made to measure to order and can be customised to suit you and your horse.
